The Koh Chang group of islands makes for an exciting getaway from your everyday worries and the busy streets of Bangkok! The best secret in those group of Islands is Koh Wai because of its low tourist load which helps to keep the island more natural. I hope this island will continue to attract those who love nature and photography and not turn into something more commercial.
Evey one needs to get away now and then and I have just the place to escape to. If you like solitude and relaxing sounds of the ocean while you contemplate your next activity for the day then Koh Wai is for you. Sometimes its difficult to choose between relaxing in a hammock on the beach or sampling some mouth watering Thai cuisine.
One of my favorite foods and the first food that many visitors to Thailand first try is something called Pad Thai. This delightful food is prepared with eggs noodles tofu and sometimes beef or chicken and some vegetables. The next time you find yourself relaxing on the beach in Thailand around Koh Wai or Koh Chang why not try this dish.

Make sure you place your passport and any valuable papers inside a waterproof envelope. Sometimes on a boat you may get lightly misted by the ocean. Photographers will fall in love with Koh Wai island once they realize all the great photo opportunities Koh Wai has to offer. From flowers to coconut trees you will never grow tired of the magnificent scenery Koh Wai has to offer. I am personally fond of night photography and The resorts provide some unique opportunities at night when they turn the lights on at night and you capture a photo of a resort with the lights glistening in the ocean. Its also fun to bring colored flash lites or different colored lenses for your camera to capture more colors with your camera.
You have many options to you once you arrive on the island and I will discuss some of my favorites. You can really work up an appetite relaxing on the beach and Kayaking around the island. One remedy to cure your rumbling stomach is to partake in a age old tradition which I like to refer to as food hopping. You start off eating at the resort your staying at and when the next hunger attack hit you its time to begin your quest.
Once in Bangkok you will need to travel to Trat which is about a five to six hour drive, and many tour buses travel to that destination. Koh Wai, which is an island to the south of Koh Chang in Thailand is situated about forty five minutes on a speed boat or a little over two hours on a regular boat from Trat. If the waves are choppy I recommend staying away from the speed boat unless you don't mind getting bounced around a little. The slower boat also gives you a chance to take video and enjoy a nice nap on the way to your paradise destination.
Koh Wai island is one of Thailand's great treasures with clear waters and stunning beaches that attract visitors from all over the world. Located on this paradise island are Four different resorts all with accommodations that allow you to interact with the true beauty of nature and the environment. Many visitors are often surprised when they discover the water is so still that you don't need snorkeling gear to view the fish under the ocean. Walking out on one of the resort piers you can see the ocean floor through the clear water which is teaming with exotic fish and assorted ocean life.
